Yep. I think it's just because dA was around before the term "social network" was a buzzword and they don't associate it with Facebook and whatnot... Could also be because a lot of people have stopped utilizing the social aspects of the site.
Granted, I was a bit startled at first, but now that I've settled in, I find it okay. Once it's fully released, it'll be easier to actually connect with entire follower bases on the site, rather than having to resort to clunky journals all the time for simple statements like "My tablet is FUBAR."
It's just so confusing. Like...what do they think this site is if not a social network?
I have no idea. I think the real problem people have with this becoming more like mainstream social media sites is the fact that it's mainstream. Artists tend to be non-conformists and hipsters, so I think this kind of reaction is to be expected. I just go with the flow, myself. I really like the new changes!
