When I did my fist one: [link] now scrapped (I'm new at suggestions) I thought it would be useful... But it came out from the comments that it wouldn't be... So now I'm gonna try to reflect before doing another one. Dunno if it will be a better one though...

Visual suggestions are things like this: [link]
Basically, a visual suggestion is a visual representation of an idea you have for a new feature or an improvement of an old feature on deviantART.

I always use MS Paint and Screenshoting, and I don't even know the fonts well, so mine are pretty terrible. ^^;

Well, if you count my scripts as suggestions (I'm happy when deviantart implements anything, which didn't happen until know^^) I would say I'm pleased^^

By the way... is there a tutorial for making a visual suggestion? Of course you would need to have your own idea^^ But maybe something like structuring, making the visual-part or explaining...
I saw some submissions that were really difficult to understand in the past, so maybe that would be something to link within your suggestions-centred journal-entries!

I'm actually working on putting together a tutorial/resource pack for making visual suggestions as well as written suggestions, which is what the poll is for! Thanks for the feedback.

Ah, ok, nice^^
please consider not everyone has photoshop then^^
I would say, the most handy tools would be firebug for firefox or chrome's dom-inspector, and inkscape as vector-image-freeware... gimp could be used, too, but I think vector-based image-editors are kind of handier here^^

Nice, I'm looking forward to your tutorial-pack! Maybe I can improve my script-previews & -descriptions, too^^

Basically what I'm doing is saving everything as a PNG so it can have transparency, and should be able to be opened in nearly all programs.

Is there anything specific you would find useful in a resource pack for stuff like this?

well, when using inkscape you can export as an png, but also save as svg, which has similar benefits to photoshop's or gimp's format: you can edit everything later. And as it is a vektor-image-program, everything done there is saved lossless. It is really handy when doing conceptual things etc...

well, another great point for suggestions is how to use a dom-inspector like Firebug, so you can change or add elements in the site and make a screenshot of that afterwards. that's often a lot less messier than copy some parts within a screenshot as sizes and font is auto-adjusted this way...

I've actually never used firebug. I'll have to take a look at it later. How much knowledge of computer stuffs does it take?

That depends on what you want to do.
For just changing text or duplicating exitsting elements (like new Menü-items, sections or images), there is almost nothing required.
When you want to insert something completly new or change the appearance you need basic knowledge of htlm or/and css.
When you want to mimic deviantart's style with completly new popups etc., you'll also need some knowledge about how deviantart is naming his own classes.
