This is an illustration I did in early 2018 and is easily the most complex piece I have ever done. I'm ridiculously happy with how it turned out, and eventually I'll be making a short comic about the story behind it, but it was loosely inspired by a lecture I went to YEARS ago about the Mayan village of Joya de Ceren in El Salvador. It's a fascinating archeological site, though sadly there isn't a ton of easy to access info online about it.

There's a few pictures floating around, but I'm afraid I don't know enough to write an article! The lecture was YEARS ago. Though, the main college that's involved with the dig is local to me, so if I got really determined I could probably find some professors to bug for information.
